You know friends as I once said music can move the soul and I believe that. Did you know that music can affect us emotionally or even affect us with our social interactions. I guess that is why I like gospel music especially Country Gospel. Sometimes that's the way I start off my day. While sitting there having my first couple cups of coffee I will either listen to some good ole gospel music songs or at times I may elect to watch some gospel music videos. It just seems like a good way to start my day. It not only causes me to think, put kinda helps me to focus on the right things. Make any sense to you?
Back when I was growing up,one of the things I loved to do was to go spend the night at my one grandparents house. (I liked staying at both grandparents house.) But when I would wake up in the morning at the one, my grandmother would already have the radio on.( No tv in them there days.) What she had on would be a fifteen minute segment of what they called Hymn Time. You know that now when I think about those mornings I believe they played a big part in my life.
Seems funny how when you start writing things ,it can bring up memories of something in the past. Guess I would have to list that under Precious Memories.
And by the way, if you are looking for a place outside of YouTube that plays gospel videos without having to click on each one, then just type in Gospel Music TV on your computer then scroll down to where it says Channel Chooser- Gospel Music TV. After you click on that it will go right to the place that plays video after video. once there if you like it you can do as I did and add it to your list of favorites. This way you don't have to type everything down each time you would like to watch some vid's.
As I touched on before, there was a period in my life when I was staying at a Gospel Mission and while there, once a month the pastor for that evening would have me get up with my guitar and sing a couple of gospel songs. There have been, on occasion those times when I would see one of the fellas with tears in their eyes. I'm quite sure I know what they were thinking because I have been in that same spot and the thought that was running through my head was "That song is about me and my life. "
There are times when I listen to a certain song that I still get tears in my eyes. For me that's a good thing. There are some gospel songs that give me goosebumps. I call them motivational songs because they cause me to stop and think about what I am doing with my life. Some gospel songs bring into remembrance how I used to be and how God as changed my life. Not only the way I live, but my thought process as well.
So you see music can help shape the way our lives are. But the main thing is, whenever I do play gospel songs in front of an audience is that hopefully I've planted a seed or two.
Take care and may God bless you always,
Mike Rupe Sr.
