Music does strange things. Did you know that? It can affect the way we think or do or possibly set a new trend. Why I remember as a young teen back in the 50s listening to the music that was deemed Rock ' Roll. I know us young fellers started letting our hair grow longer, ducktails, all that stuff. Many parents exclaimed that it was the work of the devil. I sometimes think they were right. Then along came the 60s music right along with bell bottom pants and those funny looking shirts done up in all those colors. Now we have Hip Hop and Rap and the message it sends out to our young people is at the very least a bad one. Now don't get me wrong there are some very good musicians out there who don't use all the bad language or the talk about killing. Psychologists will tell you that the reason for this is with today's society and all the stress that young people have today that they are just expressing themselves.Well ,whether young or old that is one of the primary reasons for music. To express ourselves. I know if anyone reads this that I will probably get some comments about me "not being up with the times or an old fuddy duddy that cannot except new things" Well, Just for the record I'm not that way cause like I said at the beginning, music can affect our thoughts and the things we do. That's why it always makes me feel good to see young people involved with gospel music. When they do a gospel song what message are they sending out to the young people listening to their songs?
With that in mind I'll leave you today with a video of Dave's Highway. They are a young gospel trio starting to make their mark.
You take care and may God bless you,
Your friend,
Mike Rupe Sr.
