This morning I came across a video of some children singing This Little Light Of Mine. Of course that immediately took me back to my childhood days. (I go there often.) As a little kid attending church I would just love it when our Sunday school class would put on a program. It didn't matter to me if it was just singing a couple of songs or if it was a church play. Why I would go home and practice my little heart out. Sometimes it might only be a bible verse that I would have to recite or just one or two words in a play. And of course there would always be that worry in the back of my mind. Those "what if worries." Like, what if I forget the words or what if my costume doesn't look good or worse yet what if I happen to forget it and leave it at home. I'm quite sure some of you can relate to that, and you know those kind of worries are very huge to a little kid. Of course any child really loves it when they are up on the church stage and they look out towards the audience and spot their parents, grandparents, or someone else that they know who has come to watch . When it comes down to it, those plays were a very good way for children to memorize bible verses. Some say that this song was written based upon Matthew Chapter 5, verses 14-16. It is part of the Sermon On The Mount. I had to pick up my bible and reread it.While I was reading the text I was also wondering to myself "Am I letting my light shine?" How sad to say that the answer was "not always." Sometimes I really do believe that a person needs to take a little self inventory from time to time. Maybe that was the reason for me coming across that video this morning. Before I leave you with that video today I would like to say that in the last couple of blogs that I posted, I gave you an email address. Like a lot of things I wanted to try it out to make sure that it worked okay cause it came up a different color like most links do. Well it took me to Outlook Express which never has worked for me. Maybe it's one of those deals you have to pay for. I don't know. So don't bother clicking on it. Instead just write it down somewhere rupesrmichael@aol.com then send me an email, you can let me know if you like the videos at the end of the blogs. Anyway with that being said I'll leave you today with that video" This Little Light Of Mine"
Until next time, you take care and may God bless.
Your friend,
Mike Rupe Sr.
