Have you ever hopped out of bed in the morning with a song going through your head? I just love it when that happens to me,especially if its a gospel song or one of the old hymns. It just seems to make my day go so much better. When it comes right down to it, I would like every morning to start off that way. There was one time during one of my stays at the Bethel Mission in Des Moines, Iowa, that I would get up out of my bunk in the morning with such a song stuck in my head. More then likely, it had been one that us fellas were singing in the chapel service the night before. Now our lockers were located in the basement or as some prefer to call it "the lower level "and every morning while walking down those steps I would be humming the tune of one of those songs. On several occasions one of the fellas would ask me how I could be so happy in the morning knowing that I was homeless and was staying at the mission. Usually I would just give them a smile or at times I would tell them that I was glad to be there cause it was so much better then where I had been and I felt that God was watching over me. So you see not only does waking up with gospel music running through your mind help you to have a good start for the day but also at times, it opens a door to hopefully plant a little seed. I have heard it said that music will soothe the beast. In our case maybe music soothes the beast within.
As usual I'll end this little blog with a video. This one is called "Don't You Just Love That Gospel Music"and the lady's name is Brenda Sowers.
