Older Hymns

As a rule I have always thought of there being a difference between country gospel music and the older hymns.
So I asked myself this. "If you use a guitar or steal guitar to accompany someone singing a hymn, does that make it a country gospel song?"
My answer to that is "No,it is still a hymn."And you know, some of these older hymns can really move a person, and at times they make my think of my days as a youth attending church and maybe hearing them for the very first time. There are a lot of churches today that have strayed away from doing these wonderful old hymns which truly saddens my heart. The good news is that there are more that still sing them.So the thing is, whether the accompaniment be a piano or a guitar, these are some of the finest songs ever written and the message they convey is very powerful.
On a different note if anyone that happens to read this little blog and would like to see a video of a certain country gospel song or an older hymn, then let me know.Just send me an email to
rupesrmichael@aol.com
Today I'll leave you with the video of the song that prompted me to write this today. the song is entitled "Near The Cross" by The Parish Family.
So for now you take care and may God bless,
Your friend,
Mike Rupe Sr.
