Listening To The Words

Many times we use music for a background in our everyday lives. I do that. Maybe it's to fill a void. As for where I live, it is way to quiet and I need something to break that awful silence. Gospel music being used in that way is no different then any other type of music. It depends upon our musical tastes. I know a lady who has her radio tuned to a gospel music station as she putters around the house doing various things. My grandfather used to have a radio going as he worked in his shop. When I was doing a short stint as a roofer, we always had a boombox up on the roof with us and it was always the first thing off the roof when it started to rain. We certainly didn't want the radio ruined. How could we roof without the music? When you get used to having music playing while you're doing something then all at once be without it, see how you feel.
All to often we use music in this way never paying attention to the words. Of course it wouldn't work out if you were working and took time out to listen to the lyrics of some tune that was being played. Many bosses tend to frown upon their workers staring off into space. But you know, every once in awhile there is a word or phrase in a song that just jumps out at us
and we say to ourselves I have to pay closer attention to that song the next time it is being played. Ever happen to you?
That's the way it is with the song "The Greatest Love Story" Many times I had heard it and even hummed along, but never really listened to the words. The other day while watching some gospel music videos, they started playing that one and as I set there watching, I thought to myself ,those are some very good lyrics and they are so true. So I thought I would post both the lyrics and the video on here today.
Until next time,may God bless,

The Greatest Love Story

Before Salvation, in a far and distant land
Two rusty nails pierced two precious hands
There a man named Jesus for silver was sold
On an old rugged cross, loves story was told

Chorus
Oh, Oh what a story I love you was written in blood
Rivers of mercy were flowing,
Between two thieves was the son
The ransom was paid for every mans soul
On an old rugged cross the great love story was told

He cried, "it is finished" and the world heard the sound
Marking the beginning as his blood touched the ground
A master plan for living on Mount Calvary engraved
Such expressions of love is salvation today

Chorus
Oh, Oh what a story I love you was written in blood
Rivers of mercy were flowing,
From the matchless fountain of love
The ransom was paid for every mans soul
On an old rugged cross the great love story was told
