You know over the last two months I have been doing some music for the monthly senior birthday party they have here in the building where I live. At first I wondered just what type of music to do. Finally I came up with the idea to play some of the older songs from the late 40s and 50s.but I also wanted to include some of the older hymns and gospel songs. My main concern with this is that I didn't know how they would react to this type music being played at a birthday party. So as I do a lot of times, I prayed about it. I went ahead and included a few of those songs in with the others. And much to my surprise I was asked back for the next month.
At the last little gig the sponsors which put on the program asked me if I would come and do some music at the other building. Then one of the ladies who runs the bingo games asked me if I could do this at their Christmas bingo party. She asked me if I would do some of the gospel songs also. I asked her if she was sure about that because of the fact that it was a Christmas party. She told me that she thought the crowd would enjoy it. The gist of this story is not really about me,but is how God works in ones life.I have tried over the last couple of years to be able to do some music at one of the two buildings with little or no success. I've prayed about it more then once. Now here I am with at least three gigs plus two of the ladies that live here asked me if I would make a tape or CD of some of the songs. Mainly the hymns and gospel ones. Of course I did that for them. I really stressed the fact that it was not a professional recording by a long shot. They said they didn't care about that. (bless their hearts) Anyway it just goes to show me again that if I pray and wait, that things do happen. I have always had trouble with the waiting part. Guess it's the human nature in me coming out, and over the years I have learned to have more patience. Now I sit back and wonder( How is He going to accomplish this. ) and it never ceases to amaze me.I'll leave you with this video today of a song called "What Would I do Without Jesus" sang by Bonnie Faulkner from Strolling Down Memory Lane.
May God bless you always,
Your friend,
Mike Rupe Sr.
