Yesterday I sent a couple of friends a copy of a new video that I was getting ready to upload to YouTube.Because of the content I felt that I had to reassure one of them that it was not for solicitation purposes of any kind. So I told them the story behind this song. Now It's a known fact that I spent part of my life living in the missions and homeless shelters. With that being said here is the story behind the video.
The mission where I was staying had chapel service every evening except for Saturday. Each night there would be a different church group to conduct the chapel service. They did this on a once a month rotation basis and the church that I attended was scheduled for Thursday night once a month. As usual they would have me get up and do a couple of songs at the beginning of the service. As I got up on the platform I really had no idea as to what my opening song would be and when I looked out at the audience of men who set there waiting for the service to start what I saw was a look of despair and and lost hope on many of their faces.
Some were there not of their own doing, while others were there because of some type of an addiction in their life, Among them set a few who were there because of a broken marriage, perhaps never to see their family again. You know it just made me so sad to see so much hurt all in one place. For my opening song I did "Someone Cares For You" Afterwards I found out that a lot of these guys either thought they were so bad or so undeserving that God would never help them.
How sad to think that these men were going thru life afraid to ask God for his help. But because of that song it gave me the opportunity to share the gospel and let them know, that at one time I had also had those same thoughts.
When I decided to do this video, I had envisioned the opening picture to be that of a lonely man sitting at a bar with a bottle along side of him. While doing my search for that one certain picture, I came across one of a woman and a child that jumped out at me. I decided that, that was the one I should use. I'll leave you today with that video and hope you enjoy it. Take care and may God bless you,
Your friend,
Mike Rupe Sr
