Here it is that time of the year for many State Fairs. Here in Iowa we have one of the best in the country. One of my favorite things at the fair is the music, Especially gospel music. Usually these groups attract a lot of people. Much to my dismay when I was going over the schedule for it, I could not find one person or group that did gospel music. A lot of country artists and rock groups are what I found. Now maybe there is some gospel music being offered this year and I missed it as I scanned the schedule. (I've been known to do that at times.) I really hope so anyway.
On to what I started to write about. Of course I like all the gospel music but some of my favorite songs are the ones about heaven or going to heaven. Songs like How Beautiful Heaven Must Be, When We All Get To Heaven,When They Ring Those Golden Bells, Where we'll Never Grow Old, Sweet By And By and many many more. Of course you notice that these are all the old songs and that just so happens to be what I lean towards. On the internet you can find a site that plays a lot of the old ones. If you go to billyandwillie.tripod.com you can find a whole list of gospel shows that they have done for television. Much like this blog where I try to end each one with everyday people who have a love for gospel music and like to perform it, well these are the same type of guests they have on their programs. Anyway it's well worth a look see So I will end this today with a video that I came across awhile back called Where The Roses Never Fade. This fine tune is being sung by George Whittaker.
Before I go there is one other thing. It has been very, very hot this summer and for all you folks out there who are at that senior age such as me just a reminder to not over do it if your outdoors.
Take care and may God bless you,
Your friend, Mike Rupe Sr.
